My Nurture

Not my nature

It's my nurture

What created my anxiety

Maybe bitter

Still the fruit

Growing from my family tree

Fruit must go through phases

To fall and share its seed

What if I don't want all that made me

To create a new fruited tree

All I wanted was no fighting

Wanted love to nurture me

But instead I had humans

Imperfect they may be

When your learned love was entwined

With toxicity

How do you cleanse your giving love

When it's passed imperceptibly

How do you give your love

Imbued with purity

How do you love better

Without passing it along?

I've been a miracle

I've created miracles

I've been a portal

Birthed beauty

And to be taken down

By disappointments and anger

Is a damned shame

When your roots no longer sustain you

Grow your own

Yours is the only tree you can cultivate

And bear fruit of your efforts

What beautiful fruit it may be

It's your nature

that creates

It's your spirit

you can call

To grow your own fruit

Before it too must fall
